How to Download a YouTube Video
Downloading a video with YTDownloader takes less than a minute, and you don't need to install anything. Just follow these steps:
- Copy the link: open the video on YouTube and copy its URL from the address bar or the Share button.
- Paste it in: paste the link into the box on YTDownloader.
- Choose a format: select MP4, MP3, WEBM or AVI and your preferred quality.
- Click Download: the file is processed in seconds and saved straight to your device.
Supported Download Formats
YTDownloader supports four popular formats so you can save each video in the way that suits you best.
MP4 – Best for Video
MP4 plays on almost every phone, computer, smart TV and media player, which makes it the best all-round choice for watching videos offline.
MP3 – Best for Audio
MP3 saves only the sound, creating much smaller files that are perfect for music, podcasts and lectures on the go.
WEBM – Lightweight Video
WEBM keeps file sizes low while still giving good quality, and it works well in modern browsers.
AVI – For Older Players and Editing
AVI is useful for older media players and some video editing programs that prefer this format.
Choosing the Right Quality
Higher resolutions give a sharper picture but create larger files. Pick the option that best matches your screen and storage space:
- 360p / 480p: small files, ideal for phones with limited storage.
- 720p HD: a great balance between clarity and file size.
- 1080p Full HD: crisp, detailed video for laptops, tablets and TVs.
Downloading on Android and iPhone
On your phone, open the YouTube app, tap Share and choose Copy link. Then open YTDownloader in Chrome or Safari, paste the link and start your download.
On Android, files are usually saved to the Downloads folder. On iPhone, you'll find them in the Files app, from where you can move them to Photos or your music library.
Downloading on Windows and Mac
On a computer, YTDownloader works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Paste the video link, choose your format and click Download. The file goes to your Downloads folder, ready to open in any media player.
Using Batch Download
Want to save several videos at once? Batch Download lets you paste multiple links, choose one format for all of them and download them together. It's ideal for course lessons, tutorials and video series.
Download Not Working?
If a download doesn't start, check that you copied the full video link and refresh the page. Slow downloads are usually caused by a weak connection, so try Wi-Fi or a lower quality.
Private, age-restricted or region-locked videos can't be downloaded. Make sure the video plays normally on YouTube before trying again.
Download Responsibly
Only download videos you own, videos shared under a licence that allows it such as Creative Commons, or content you have permission to save. Downloads are for personal offline viewing, so please don't re-upload or share them without the creator's permission.
